Lock in Photo 2

Thank you to our CRBA Youth Ministry Leadership Team for leading and implementing our Associational Youth Lock-In at Asheville’s Fun Depot. It was a wonderful time of great fun, food, fellowship and a great opportunity to hear the Word of God shared by Kevin Gauthier. We praise the Lord for the 180 in attendance from all over Burke County. Thank you CRBA for helping our youth pastors create opportunities for students to hear the Gospel.

We have an exciting mission opportunity for folks in our Association. The cost is $10 per person per night which covers all supplies, lodging, and food. If interested, please call our CRBA office at 828-437-0137 for more information and to register.

Pedals for Pastors group Pic 2

We are happy to announce we have collected enough money where 85 bicycles have been purchased for church planting pastors in India to use. Our goal over the past several months has been to purchase 100 bicycles and we only have 15 more to go. In this part of India new pastors planted over 250 new churches this past year seeing thousands coming to faith in Christ. Most of the church-planting pastors are pastoring more than one church and without these bicycles they are spending a lot of time walking from church to church. The gift of a bicycle (costing $80 each) allows a pastor to travel from church to church in a timely manner to train others to make disciples who make disciples. If you would like to help us reach our goal of 100 bicycles for pastors in India, please send a check to our CRBA office in the amount of $80. So far, gifts have come from individuals, churches, Sunday School Classes, WMU and Youth groups.

Celebrate Recovery

We are excited about the start of a new Celebrate Recovery Ministry group that will begin on Tuesday, January 28th beginning at 6:30 p.m. and will meet Summit Community Church in Morganton. We have been praying for God to lead us in how to deal with the rampant drug addiction in Burke County and He has led us to begin a Celebrate Recovery group which is a biblically based ministry to help people overcome their hurts, bad habits and hang-ups. Under the direction of Kathy Turner of Summit Church, we are looking forward to see how God will use this new ministry to transform lives, families and our communities. Please encourage your friends and family members to take advantage of this wonderful ministry.

Bible Drill Pic

One of the greatest tools used in our Association is the tool of teaching children God’s Word through the use of Bible Drills. We all know of the power of God’s Word in a person’s life and especially how powerful it can be in the lives of children. That being said, this year’s Associational Bible Drill is scheduled for March 15th, @ Wilkies Grove @ 3 p.m. If your church plans to participate in this wonderful ministry, please let us know by calling our CRBA office.

Medical Patient Modesty is doing a Pie Bake-Off / Silent Auction (http://tasteoflocalfood.com/pie-bakeoff/) in Morganton on Saturday, March 7th from 12-3:30 PM at Social Hall in the basement of Collett Street Recreation Center to benefit Medical Patient Modesty (http://www.patientmodesty.org)  and we will need a number of volunteers (some must be teenagers under the age of 18).

Medical Patient Modesty is a non-profit organization that works to help educate patients and their families about how to have maximum modesty for procedures; how to stand up for their rights requesting a same-gender medical team for intimate procedures; and how to prevent sexual abuse by medical professionals. We also work to educate medical professionals on how to be more sensitive to patient modesty.

The proceeds from this event will help with our patient education / advocacy efforts.

We are looking for people from different churches in Burke County who enjoy baking to participate in our pie baking contest.   An entry for one pie is $10. You can find more information on the pie baking contest at http://tasteoflocalfood.com/pie-bakeoff/bakerregistration.asp.
