We have an exciting mission opportunity for folks in our Association. There are many people in the eastern part of our state who are still recovering from hurricane devastation and we are planning to take a team of men and women February 24-26 to do clean-up and some construction in Rose Hill, NC. The cost is $10 per person per night which covers all supplies, lodging, and food. If interested, please call our CRBA office at 828-437-0137 for more information and to register.
Please be in prayer for our CRBA mission team as they leave for Kenya next week. Pray for their strength, safety, effectiveness and boldness as they share the Good News to all who will listen.
One of the greatest tools used in our Association is the tool of teaching children through the use of Bible Drills. We all know of the power of God’s Word in a person’s life and especially how powerful it can be in the lives of children. That being said, this year’s Associational Bible Drill is scheduled for March 15th, @ Wilkies Grove @ 3 p.m. If your church plans to participate in this wonderful ministry please let us know by calling our CRBA office.
Creative ideas to help you reach communities for Christ
Host A Rodeo –Host a bike rodeo to equip young riders with the best lessons for sharpening their bike safety as well as to reach out to the community. Here’s how:
- Hold the event at the church parking lot or playground.
- Create a “street” with chalk or spray paint lines (if on grass) that kids can ride around and mini traffic signs to teach the rules of the road-stopping, swerving, braking and more.
- Help kids master balance in a snail race to be the last to cross the finish line.
- Test bike control by having riders weave around cones set in a slalom pattern.
- Emphasize the importance of helmets with a helmet fitting station.
- Teach hand signals and enforce traffic laws.
- Get kids interested in bike maintenance with an “inspection station” where bike mechanics check seat height, brakes, tire pressure, chains and more.
- Reward participants’ hard work by handing out certificates.
- Have prayer and a short devotion and hand out gospel tracts (designed for children) and new testaments.

Medical Patient Modesty is doing a Pie Bake-Off / Silent Auction (http://tasteoflocalfood.com/pie-bakeoff/) in Morganton on Saturday, March 7th from 12-3:30 PM at Social Hall in the basement of Collett Street Recreation Center to benefit Medical Patient Modesty (http://www.patientmodesty.org) and we will need a number of volunteers (some must be teenagers under the age of 18).
Medical Patient Modesty is a non-profit organization that works to help educate patients and their families about how to have maximum modesty for procedures; how to stand up for their rights requesting a same-gender medical team for intimate procedures; and how to prevent sexual abuse by medical professionals. We also work to educate medical professionals on how to be more sensitive to patient modesty.
The proceeds from this event will help with our patient education / advocacy efforts.
We are looking for people from different churches in Burke County who enjoy baking to participate in our pie baking contest. An entry for one pie is $10. You can find more information on the pie baking contest at http://tasteoflocalfood.com/pie-bakeoff/bakerregistration.asp.
