CRBA Update August 23, 2023

    CRBA UPDATE                                                                  August 23 , 2023   Men's Rally August 2023

Thank you Pleasant Ridge for hosting this quarter’s Men’s Rally. The worship, message and food were great. It is always a blessing when men and boys join together to worship the King of Kings. To God be the Glory!!!!
Praise and Prayer on the Square

This past Sunday evening was extremely impactful as we gathered on Morganton Square for Praise and Prayer. Seeing hundreds of people from our churches and communities praising our Lord and joining our hearts and voices in prayer for our community was truly a blessing. Thank you to our Ladies Ministry and our Worship Pastors for hosting this important gathering. To God Be the Glory!

Each of our CRBA churches have been sent this year’s Annual Church Profile Packet. If you have not received yours, please call our office ASAP and we will be happy to send an additional one to you. Please complete your ACP online or bring it by your CRBA office by October 9th.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

The information collected on the ACP tells several important ministry stories. It tells a congregation’s story and allows the church to keep a history of leadership and statistics. As one person has said, “This history is helpful when churches look at their own trendlines, introduce a prospective new pastor to their church, and when they seek outside financing”.
The ACP also tells the story of local associations, state conventions, and the SBC as a whole.
The ACP gives a quick summary of who we are as Southern Baptists. The ACP statistics survey and leadership profile answers, who and how many individuals, congregations and associations are connected through our convention.

However, when fewer congregations participate, it’s difficult to paint a clear picture of our effectiveness as well as the needs of our churches.
We want to encourage each of our congregations to participate in the Annual Church Profile this year because every church is important! Again, please complete your ACP by October 9, 2023.

CRBBI 2023 (1)

Out of the Box (Creative Ideas for Reaching the Unchurched for Christ)
Keep Reading for this great idea shared by Paul Langston

About a month ago the health screening unit was at a Hispanic flea market in Charlotte on Saturday and saw 51 people in one day. They could have seen many more. This is the most that unit has ever served in one day.  They were able to have spiritual conversations with every patient, all of whom identified as Catholic.

This past Sunday the dental unit was at a flea market in Smithfield and saw 43 patients and had 9 people make professions of faith.  I know it could be controversial to do this on Sunday and miss corporate worship, but I was overwhelmed to visit the sponsoring church that morning for an early service and then drop by the dental bus. Kelton Hinton (AMS) was actually at the worship service with me. He had been by the flea market when they set up, and then he returned after worship.

What hit me is that we often set the buses up at churches and ask those in need to come to us. There is certainly nothing wrong with that. That can draw people to the church property and allow members of the church  to begin developing a relationship with new people groups. But why not take the buses to where the people already are!  I was told that about 10,000 people pass through the Brightleaf Flea Market on a Sunday. Before 1 pm, we can assume that every one of them is unconnected with a church family and possibly far from Christ.

If your church would like to have this type of ministry please contact our CRBA office and we will be happy to give you all the information that you need.

In early August 2023, a series of wildfires broke out in Hawaii, predominantly on the island of Maui. Many people have lost homes and many lives have been lost in these fires. Please continue to pray!
John and Gay Williams, the Hawaii Pacific Baptist Disaster Relief co-directors, have represented Hawaii Pacific Baptists on Maui since early Friday morning, August 11.
Kahului Baptist Church in Central Maui (Pastor Jay Haynes) is doing a fantastic job distributing supplies from their location. Besides distributing essential items and care from the church building. Other Maui County Baptist Churches are also involved in the efforts. Pray for these pastors and church leaders.
NC Baptists On Mission has already sent $50,000 to Hawaii Pacific Baptist Disaster Relief and plans to send more funds and volunteers when that door opens. For more information on how you can help go to https://baptistsonmission.org/Hawaii-Wildfires
