CRBA Update December 16, 2021

Kentucky4

We know that you have been praying for the people in Kentucky who were impacted by the tornadoes this past weekend.  Please continue!  You can share Christ in word and deed by responding if you are able to do so.  If you cannot respond, and even if you can, you can impact others by making a financial contribution to Disaster Relief or to Baptists on Mission.  Look below to see how your generous gift can be doubled. Your prayers, service, and generosity allows us to share Christ’s light during dark times. Thank you!

Kentucky Tornado Update from NC Baptists on Mission: NC Baptists on Mission Disaster Relief is set up in Bowling Green, KY at Hillvue Heights Baptist Church. Our main work is chaplaincy, chainsaw, temporary roof repair, and debris removal. We have other DR Ministries involved to help manage the site: feeding, safety, logistics, admin, assessment, communications, etc. We anticipate being in Bowling Green for the foreseeable future so please feel free to sign up for any days during the next few weeks. If you would like to volunteer for recovery, please visit our website at this link to sign up: Kentucky Tornado Get Involved
If you want to volunteer in the other areas needed to support our recovery site, please reach out to your ministry leader. If for some reason we close our site at a future time and your team still would like to serve, we have locations in Lumberton, Rose Hill, New Bern, and Canton.

Disaster Relief Endowment: Baptists on Mission Disaster Relief has been given a donation to our DR Endowment in the amount of $250,000.00 and the anonymous donor has asked that we match this amount. To give to the DR endowment to help us match this tremendous gift, please do one of the following:

  • Mail a check, made out to Baptists on Mission Disaster Relief, PO Box 1107, Cary, NC 27512, memo line: Disaster Relief Endowment
  • Call our office and speak to Melanie, Teresa, or Tracey to make a credit card donation – 800.395.5102
  • Make an online donation by going to our website: Baptists on Mission, clicking on Donate in the top right corner of the page and then choose Disaster Relief. Please put DR Endowment in the Note section.

Thank you so much for the many ways you assist NC Disaster Relief!

Because of the great partnership of our CRBA churches, we were able to take hundreds of toys to Kentucky this week for the children (and families) affected by the recent tornadoes. Thank you, John and Mark Ball, Doug Goforth, and Larry Thompson for packing the trailer, John Ball for delivering the toys, and our Toy Store Leadership Team for being missional. It truly is a blessing to serve in this wonderful Association that seeks to make a difference in our community, state, nation, and world. To God be the Glory!

Do you desire to know the Word of God better? Would you like to read the Bible more closely, preach or teach it with more insight, and discover or renew the joy of discovering and applying biblical truth? Do you minister in a music program, work with youth, or teach Sunday school or small group classes? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, the Catawba River Baptist Bible Institute is a great opportunity for you!

There are many great college and seminary programs available, and many are accessible through the internet. However, most of these programs are expensive, require previous education, and include coursework that is not relevant or useful to your ministry in the local church. Catawba River Baptist Bible Institute is different!
Classes last only 10 weeks and are held in person at the CRBA office. The cost is only $50 and includes all class notes and texts. You don’t study on a screen- you meet with your neighbors throughout our association. Your teacher is a carefully-prepared Bible scholar who serves as a pastor right here in Burke County.

Catawba River Baptist Bible Institute brings affordable, accessible education to you, so you can learn the Word of God! Join us for our inaugural class, The Gospels. Classes start January 11 and last one hour each Tuesday night. The class runs for 10 weeks. Come join us!

Out of the Box (1)

Host a Blanket Making Party -Donating blankets is a wonderful way to ensure no one in your community is cold this winter and hosting a blanket-making party at your church will get people invested in giving back. Donating a homemade blanket is especially rewarding. Tied fleece blankets are easy for kids to make and no sewing is required. Adults can make more complicated quilts or collect new blankets to donate. Whichever method you use, be sure to tell the recipients of Christ’s love for them and then invite them to your church.
