Out of the Box Idea Serve first responders on Labor Day (Great idea from Outreach Magazine)Local first responders are on the front lines of our communities. As they serve people in crisis, they often put their own lives in danger to keep our communities safe and healthy. Many of them won’t get to enjoy a day off on Labor Day, so this is a great opportunity for your church to show appreciation for the vital work first responders do. Gather a group together to bring snacks, baked goods, or lunch to first responders. If you’re only able to drop food off, include some handwritten thank you notes. If you’re able, hang around and talk with first responders and express your gratitude in person! This is a simple, easy way to bless people who work hard to keep our communities safe. In fact, consider gathering people in your church to do something similar for first responders on every holiday. Local Mission Opportunities An elderly lady from our community is in need of someone to come mow her grass. If you are able to meet this need, please contact Theresa Branch at (828) 201-7671. She lives off of Jamestown exit. There is a woman in need of a handicap ramp built for her home on Watermill Rd. She has MS and has had multiple heart surgeries. Because of age she does not qualify for Foothills projects. She is in need of both funding for the ramp as well as a crew to build the ramp. If you are able to help please call Lori Norville (828) 413-3810 Seeking a Christian Lady To Help Bedridden Mom at Night I am seeking a Christian woman in the Morganton area to assist my 71 year old mom at night around 9-10 PM. She has Post-Polio Syndrome that affected her legs. Covid weakened her legs further in November 2023. She can no longer stand up or walk. She only gets out of the bed when two people are available to use a transfer patient lift /transfer chair to transfer her into a wheelchair. She lives on Amherst Rd. She lost her husband on February 22, 2024. He had esophageal cancer. We are looking for a woman to assist my mom with personal care for about an hour at night. Certificate is not required. It is important the woman has a heart for helping disabled patients. The lady who currently assists my mom at night is not a CNA. She has to quit due to a lot of responsibilities at her day job. Two of the ladies who help my mom earlier in the day are CNAs. If interested, please email your information and your testimony to Misty Roberts atmisty@brightideaweb.com.
