For Almost 10 Wonderful Years… Thank You![]() Sharon and I simply want to say thank you to our CRBA family of churches for partnering together for the cause of Christ over these almost 10 years. What a blessing it has been to serve alongside you as we have sought to reach our communities, strengthen our churches, and make disciples together. During these years, we have seen God do wonderful, God-sized miracles. We have watched churches work together in unity, serve together on mission, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel locally and beyond. Only eternity will reveal all that God has done through the partnership of our churches. As this season of ministry comes to a close and retirement begins, we leave with hearts full of gratitude, wonderful memories, and a great hope for the future. We are excited to see how God will continue to work through the leadership of our new AMS, Michael Hodge, as he leads the way forward. Sharon and I have no immediate plans to move, so if I can ever help serve in any way, including pulpit supply, please feel free to call or email me. My new email address is robbysmith1959@icloud.com. My last day in the office will be this Thursday, May 28th. Thank you again for allowing us to serve alongside you. To God be the glory for all He has done. Blessings, Robby and Sharon Smith May 27 It’s Moving Day – Michael & Amanda Hodge The challenging announcements are behind us. The heartfelt, encouraging words have been shared in tears. Our church family has rallied around us, sending us forward with prayers and commissioning support. Now, the moment has arrived: it’s moving day! Over the past month, a surge of emotions – from excitement to grief – has accompanied the closing of our ministry in SC. On May 5th, we joined the CRBA Search Team at Burkemont Baptist Church as we were presented as your new AMS. What an honor! As anticipated, we shared this news with our church family the following evening, May 6. Their response was a mixture of sorrow and affirmation, revealing their love and support of our family. God’s faithfulness was evident as members spoke words of blessing and gratitude. Sadly, the week concluded with us attending the funeral of our son’s best friend, who lost his life in a tragic work accident. In those moments of great joy and heartbreaking grief, we have continually felt God’s comforting presence and peace. We step forward confident in His guidance! As you can imagine, boxes are everywhere and we’re lucky to even find a toothbrush at this point! But what a joy to step forward in obedience to God’s call. As I shared with many of you on May 5, our heart remains focused on seeking to serve, and we pray that God alone is glorified as we begin this journey together. This coming week, June 1-4, I plan to be in the office as much as possible – especially in the mornings – while using afternoons and evenings to continue unpacking and transitioning to North Carolina. Then, we’ll travel to the Southern Baptist Conference for Associational Leaders from June 5-9, embracing another opportunity for growth and connection. The movers are ready. The cars are lined up to leave SC. See you soon in Morganton!
